For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Have you ever caught a glimpse of the woman God made you to be? The masterpiece hidden within? You may find her intimidating at first, but remember you are not the Master Creator, God is. Let Him chip away the rough edges, chisel off the extra baggage and reveal the woman He sees when He looks at you. God turns rough stone into hand-crafted sculptures.

Take a moment to imagine yourself without the baggage and blemishes you’ve collected throughout your life. Picture you at your very best. The flaws have been erased (not just airbrushed over, but completely removed), the weight of regret has been lifted, you are just as God meant you to be.

Did you have trouble seeing her? Did you picture someone other than yourself? When we find ourselves in the dark valleys of life, it can be hard to see the masterpiece within. The flaws, missteps, and wrong turns darken our understanding of what God can do with the mess we’ve made.

The Bible is filled with metaphors about how God works in our lives. He’s the potter working a lump of clay. The good news, God can reform this clay whenever it gets too far out of shape. God is ready for the do-over that will reform us into the beautiful sculpture He’s working on.

He’s the vinedresser who carefully prunes us, clearing out the dried up branches and making room for new growth. He sees what needs to be removed so we can bloom and be fruitful. Let the Vinedresser wield the shears and reshape your life.

He’s the carpenter carefully building, shaping, sanding, smoothing, and setting things in place. He’s the architect who set the Cornerstone and is waiting for us to start building. He’s the Shepherd, guiding, guarding, and chasing.

Choose the metaphor that speaks to your heart. Read it, memorize it, and then let God show you the masterpiece He’s creating in you. We are all works in progress but our Creator is the master artist who will shape us into works of art.

Sit quietly with God and ask Him to show you who He created you to be. Let Him give you a glimpse of who you are in His hands. This “best version of yourself” is just a glimpse of the woman God is creating as He leads you through life. Invite him to shape, prune, and polish you and you’ll soon catch a glimpse of this woman. She’ll amaze you because you are a masterpiece.

Father, thank You for Your work in us. We invite you to shape us into women who reflect Your love into this world. Prune the useless branches that distract us and derail the work You have planned. Chip away the broken, sharp edges to reveal the masterpiece You created us to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daughter of God, you will find wholeness in Christ.

Michelle
