Welcome to Single Souls

Welcome to Single Souls! I’m so excited about sharing this journey with you and encourage you to engage in the process of finding wholeness in the One who created you. My own journey through singleness has led me to discover a few things about having fulfillment and peace in this life as a single woman.

Embrace your identity as a daughter of God

  • For some this may require that we shed the marred image we have of “father”. Our Heavenly Father is not distant, angry, or disappointed. His goal is to nurture and protect. His love is unfailing, His acceptance unconditional.
  • We are children of God–the Creator of the universe! Our value is in this identity alone, not in anything else we can achieve or any other relationship we develop.
  • Relationship with our Father is safe, sure, and steadfast. We can be confident in who we are because we can trust in who He is.

Trust Jesus with your singleness

  • No matter your stage or circumstance of singleness, it can be hard to go through life as a single woman in a couples world. Trust Jesus to walk through it with you and to lead you to meaningful relationships, beginning with Him.
  • Don’t fall for the lie that you have to be in a romantic relationship to be complete. You will be stronger and more secure in every relationship when you focus on drawing near to God first. Becoming a God-focused single woman will only make you a better partner should God lead you to marriage.
  • Singleness is not a punishment and it is not an indicator of your worth. Cast aside all the “not enough,” “too,” and “un” phrases that attack you (i.e. not smart enough, too picky, unlovable). These are lies that keep you from trusting that God’s plan for you is better than any plan we can make for ourselves.

Lean into God’s love

  • We cannot comprehend the level of love God has for us. But give it a try and feel your heart begin to soar in freedom.
  • God sacrificed His Son, Jesus Christ, for you. Yes, you as an individual. What kind of love allows death to come to the innocent to save the guilty? God’s love.
  • God chases us. We want a love that pursues us when we run away? Well, God does that every single day. The proof is in front of you. You are reading this blog and I’m here to tell you that Jesus loves YOU. He’s chasing you right now.
  • God lives within us. When we turn to God and accept the gift of life offered by Jesus Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit who lives within us. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher who lovingly guides us into deeper relationship with Him. And the stronger our relationship with God, the more fulfilling our lives will be.

Our mission as daughters of God is to seek Him, to know Him, and to love Him. When we do this we become who God created us to be. And let me tell you, He creates masterpieces! Even in the mess, we can rest assured that we are masterpieces in progress. I don’t feel like a masterpiece, most of us don’t. But just because we don’t feel like one doesn’t mean we’re not.

We have to learn to trust what God says about us more than what we feel about ourselves. Feelings lie. They are fickle. They are based on circumstance. God never lies. He is unchanging. He is truth.

It is my most sincere hope that you’ll join me in discovering that we can be single and whole when we anchor our lives in Jesus. He may or may not lead us to marriage. But He will always walk with us, and whether He chooses singleness for a season or for a lifetime, we can trust that God will withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11).

Daughter of God, we are complete in Him.

  1. I absolutely loved this. If I were younger I might even consider staying single. But such passion I see in your words because you have lived then.
