“I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as you have loved Me.”

John 17:23 (NKJV)

Did you know that Jesus prayed for you while He was living on this earth? John 17:20-26 records His prayer for you and for me. He prayed that we would become perfectly one with God just as the Trinity exists in perfect unity as One.

I know there are a multitude of verses that tell us how much God loves us and how He is always thinking about us. But these verses when Jesus stops to pray specifically for those of us who will come to him after His resurrection makes my heart swell with joy.

Sister, he wasn’t thinking of a faceless crowd. He knew my face, He knew your face when He prayed this prayer. Go ahead and insert your name into the passage, the meaning will hit home afresh. Jesus wants you to be with Him.

Not only did Jesus claim us and invite us to be made perfect in One, He tells us why. The assignment: that the world may know that God sent Jesus and that God loves us as He loves Jesus!

If being single makes you feel alone and unloved, attack those thoughts and feelings with the Word of God. Read Jesus’ prayer for you in John 17 and let His love wash over you.

You are wanted.
You are loved.
You are invited.
You are chosen.

This is the message of Jesus Christ. His love came from heaven to earth so that we could experience perfect unity with our Savior, Creator, and God. Daughter of God, you are never alone. Jesus recorded this prayer so we would know how much He desires a relationship with us.

Father, thank You for loving us and inviting us into a perfect relationship with You. When we begin to doubt who we are, remind us that we are Yours, chosen, loved, and whole in You. Help us walk with You daily and to become more like You with each step. We are grateful for who You are and who You made us to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We are whole in Jesus,

Michelle
